About the school

The school has one mixed boarding house accepting boarders aged between 11and 18. lpswich School
and its preparatory school are situated on the same site.
What the school seeks to do
The school aims to provide an environment where pupils feel safe and brave, where they have a
wealth of opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, to help them find their own passions and develop their own potential. It seeks to encourage the pupils to consider moral and spiritual values and understand their place in the world; to develop a spirit of service within the community; and to equip the pupils with the skills to be happy in their success at lpswich School and beyond.
About the pupils
Pupils come from a range of professional and other family backgrounds, whose heritage reflects that
of the local area. Nationally standardised test data used by the school indicates that the ability of the pupils aged 11 to 16 years, and in the sixth form, is above average. The school has identified 78 pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities such as dyslexia, 50 of whom receive additional support. One pupil has an educational, health and care plan. A total of 46 pupils have English as an additional language, 45 of whom receive additional support. The school identifies a number of pupils as the most able in its population, and the curriculum is modified for them and for other able pupils in sport, music and drama.
