About the school
Bradford Grammar School is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 11 to 18. lt was founded in 1548 and re-established by Royal Charterin 1662 as the Free Grammar SchoolofCharlesllat Bradford. The school became independent in 1975 and fully co-educational in 1999.
The school is owned by a board of trustees and is a registered charity. The governing board have responsibility for both the senior school and the junior school, Clock House, which is located on thesenior school site.

About the pupils
Pupils come from a range of professional and cultural backgrounds from families living within a large catchment area. About half the Year 7 pupils transfer from the junior school, the remainder from independent preparatory or maintained schools. Nationally standardised tests indicate the ability profile of the senior school is above average, with over a quarter of pupils demonstrating well-above-average ability. No pupils have English as an additional language. The school has identified 80 pupilsas having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), mainly dyslexia, dyspraxia and mild autism, of whom 29 receive specialist support. Others are supported through individual education plans or learning support plans. Also, 1 pupil has a statement of special educational needs but no pupils have an education, health and care (EHC) plan. The school has identified approximately 85 pupils as the most able in its population, and they receive additional curriculum input.
