牛津德欧中学成立于1977年,坐落在历史古老、学术氛围浓厚的牛津城内,距离世界顶尖名校牛津大学步行仅10分钟距离。与其他私立中学不同,牛津德欧中学的A-level学生单独在一个校区内,该校区内设施和师资全部用于A-level学生的教学。

学校座落在繁华的牛津区,提供学生良好的教学质量及住宿环境,并且针对国际学生提供进入大学前最充分的准备。本校的教学目标是为提倡学生与师长间良好的互动,重视小班教学,一班以不超过 8 人为限,并十分重视学生上课的态度及出席情形,老师将会随时鼓励学生及注意到各个学生不同的状况。针对 A-level考试结果的纪录,本校备有辅导老师,对于成绩较差的同学,给予励学,并且随时和家长保持联系。
学校拥有宽阔的环境及丰富的校园生活,除了课业之外,学生的体能及课外活动上的表现也是在校园内整体评估重要的一部份。学校提供许多运动、音乐及戏剧活动。

About the school
d’Overbroeck's is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 19 years, situated in north Oxford. Originally founded in 1977 as a sixth form college, in 1998 it accepted pupils from 13 years of age and in 2001 it opened an international section. In 2005, it opened a senior section for day pupils aged 11 to 16 years. The school became part of the Oxford International Education Group (OlEG) in 2014. In addition to the governing board, the school has a local governing body which acts in an advisory capacity.

Since the last inspection, the school has created new posts within the senior leadership team and the current principal has been in post since September 2017. The school opened a new sixth form building, new facilities for the international section and a new sixth form boarding house in September 2017.

Pupils in Years 7 to 11 are all day pupils and are based at the Leckford Road site. Approximately half the students in the sixth form are boarders, and almost all pupils in the international section also board. The school has 3 boarding houses, all located close to either the sixth form building or the international section. A number of students stay with host families within close proximity to the school.

What the school seeks to do
The school aims to provide a community in which pupils feel engaged, happy and at ease with themselves, and where relationships with staff are built on mutual respect. Pupils are encouraged to develop academically and personally to become thoughtful, resilient and considerate people who are ready to move on to the next stage of their lives.

About the pupils
The majority of pupils come from the local area, while the international students come from a number of different countries. Nationally standardised test data provided by the school indicate that the ability profile of the senior school is above average. The school has identified 101 pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), which include dyslexia and dyspraxia. In Years 7 to 11, these pupils receive additional specialist help whilst those in the sixth form have access to independent learning skills classes. No pupil in the school has an education, health and care plan or a statement of special educational needs. English is an additional language (EAL) for 186 pupils, of whom 123 receive additional support from the EAL department. The school provides a flexible approach to the curriculum for those pupils with particular talents or abilities.

It’s an ethos that recognises that humans do not exist in isolation; that we depend on connection, community, and caring  – quite  simply, our humanity depends on each other. In the words of the great South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu – “A person is a person through other persons.”
