大名鼎鼎的昆士伍德，是的这个名号在中国非常响亮。无论是谁，当你提起Queenswood，他们都会说“我听说过，一所有名的学校”。这很有意思，因为大多数人并没有真正来到过这里，或者自己的女儿在这里学习过。我带着这个疑问，进入校园，试图寻找答案。这让我的观察更加细致，问题也更加尖锐。
一所Y7-Sixth Form的女子学校，校园极尽优美，从屋外修葺整齐的草坪和绿植、精心装扮的花圃、围廊上设置的摆件、大楼走廊里的成列品、教室里的用具、宿舍楼里每个功能间的家具和色彩搭配、甚至到每一张校园图片，每一个细节，都表达着用心与细致。正如我观察到的所有女孩，和她们的老师一样，从穿着搭配，动作举止，到言谈用词，每一个细节都淋漓尽致的做到精致。
接待我们的是一个来自上海的女生，从她的字里行间中，能感受到她十分享受这里的学习生活，有意思的是，这里并不涉及攀比。而是每个女孩对生活，不同美的认知和细节展示，非常的独立与自信，不失优雅与亲和。更让我意外的是，女孩们的知识面非常旷阔，人文、地理、时政、时尚等等。从交谈中，我知道了这得益于学校非常丰富的假期活动。不同年龄的女孩，在每个周末都有着适合的活动安排，从哈利波特到伦敦时尚周，从阿尔卑斯山的滑雪到海边的帆船，从爱丁堡艺术节到大学的科学论坛，每一个周末都又精彩纷呈的活动。
注重细节，培养精致、优雅、且自信女孩的地方，每一个环节都为女孩们准备最好的。我把Queenswood推荐给秉持富养女儿观点的中国家长。

院校概述

About the school
Queenswood School is a boarding and day school for girls aged between 11 and 18 years. It was founded in Clapham Park in 1894 and moved to its present site in 1925. The school first accepted day pupils in 1991, and the current principal took up her post in September 2016. The school is a charitable trust and a member of the Methodist Foundation. The governors of the school are the trustees of the charity and directors of the company.

The school consists of two departments: senior school, for pupils aged 11 to 16 years, and sixth form, for pupils aged 17 to 18 years.

What the school seeks to do
The school aims to offer an excellent education, through a broad curriculum, and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities. It seeks to promote the happiness and self-esteem of the pupils by valuing them as individuals. The school intends to prepare pupils for the next stage of their education and their future lives. It aims to encourage parents to support the life of the school and be fully involved in their children' s education.

About the pupils
Nationally standardised test data provided by the school indicate that the ability of pupils is above average in Years 7 to 11 and broadly average in the sixth form. The school has identified 116 pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), which include dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, 42 of whom receive additional support. No pupil has an education, health and care (EHC) plan or a statement of special educational needs. English is an additional language (EAL) for 92 pupils, 48 of whom receive additional support.

National Curriculum nomenclature is used throughout this report to refer toyear groups in the school.

I am privileged to be Principal of this wonderful school and I am passionate about educating girls in a positive, supportive and challenging environment. Queenswood is a community where girls achieve all that they dream of and more. The opportunities for growth and development for boarders and day girls are extensive, exciting and fun. Most importantly, Queenswood girls are happy – and happy girls are successful girls.

There is no doubt that Queenswood girls excel academically. The grades they achieve at GCSE are consistently around one grade higher in every subject than would be expected at an average independent school. Or, as the Good Schools Guide puts it, Queenswood is ‘at the pinnacle of Hertfordshire’s value-added tables’. This is something of which we are immensely proud. Likewise, they thrive in our truly progressive Sixth Form, and proceed to a wide range of prestigious courses at top Universities.

In the future, our girls will be leaders in their chosen fields. They will need to be able to try, and fail, and try again with a positive attitude. These are qualities that Queenswood girls develop through their time here and take with them for the rest of their lives.

This is a dynamic learning community where the girls’ interests, happiness and wellbeing are the first consideration at all times. Our girls are at the heart of everything we do, and we know that they feel valued and enriched by the experiences they share here.
