Welcome to Badminton, an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3-18.
If I could give only one example of what makes Badminton special, I would choose ‘Pump Handles’. It’s an odd name for a tradition that happens at the end of every term here, when every girl shakes the hand of every teacher. Looking each other in the eye and parting for the holidays in such a positive way shows our values of respect and support for one another, and is one of the many, many reasons I feel privileged to be here. Badminton is a daily reminder that a good school can embed the attitudes and attributes for a fulfilling future.
As I walk around, I take pleasure in seeing the strength and warmth of our interactions here. Everyone knows each other, but the small size of Badminton also comes with the freedom and space to explore new ideas and interests. Our history is one of innovation, and that still shows today. I am so impressed by the achievements of our girls, by their individuality, and by the spirit of generosity and excitement that accompanies them. Whether I’m answering an email from an Old Badmintonian who has just been awarded a scholarship by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, or talking to a Sixth Former who’s just made her first successful roast supper as part of the Leiths Certificate in Food and Wine, every day brings proof that a Badminton education is transformative.
We can only show a small part of life at Badminton here, but I hope it is enough to tempt you to find out more. Whether you’re looking for the right school for your daughter or whether you live in Bristol and would like to know about what we do, please do read what others have to say about us. I very much look forward to meeting you.
