About the school
Farlington School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged between
4 and 18 years. The school stands in parkland near the town of Horsham in West Sussex. lt was founded as a girls’ school in 1896 and has occupied its present site since 1956. lt is beginning the process of becoming co-educational and currently has ten male pupils in Reception and Year 1. Farlington will welcome further male pupils into Years 3,7,9 and 12 in September 2020, and a few into other years who are siblings or children of staff. Since September 2019, it has been owned and governed by Bellevue International, whose Chief Executive Officer acts as proprietor and chair of governors. Since the previous inspection, the school has restructured the leadership team; and all pupils from Year 3 have been required to have laptop computers.

The school aims to inspire a love of learning, foster individuality and celebrate academic and extra-
curricular achievements equally. lt seeks to provide a creative, inclusive and purposeful environment where opportunities abound. The objective is to educate well-rounded, confident,responsible citizens, capable of making a difference in the world.
About the pupils
The pupils come mainly from a range of professional and business family backgrounds within a radius
Of twenty miles, and the majority are of white British origin. Boarders come from a number of different countries, including the UK. Two pupils have an education, health and care (EHC) plan. The school has identified 55 pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), which include dyslexia and mild processing difficulties, 36 of whom receive additional specialist help. English is an additional language (EAL) for 46 pupils, who almostall receive additional specialist support. The school aims to enrich the curriculum for those identified as more able by more challenging academic tasks and extra-curricular activities and trips.
