About the school
Woodbridge School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged between four and eighteen years. lt is part of the Seckford Foundation, a registered charity.The school is overseen by the trustees of the foundation, who delegate responsibility for some areas of the schoo's operationto the school committee. The current headmaster took up the position in 2018 and the head of the preparatory school in 2017. Since the previous inspection, planning permission has been granted for the relocation of the Pre-Prep at the Prep School site for September 2019.

The Seckford Foundation was originaly endowed in the sixteenth century to provide care for the
elderly in Woodbridge and the surrounding area. In the nineteenth century it merged with Woodbridge School, founded in the 1660s, when it adopted its current identity. The school becameco-educational in 1974 and provides boarding in one boarding house on the main site for pupils aged13 to 18. Pupils in Years 3 to 6 attend The Abbey Preparatory School, located in its own building close to the town's market square and a short walk from the main school site. The senior school, the sixth form, and the Pre-Prep school are situated on the main site.

What the school seeks to do
The school aims to be a community built on Christian values which gives quality of relationships the highest priority. It seeks to help pupils develop into happy, confident, caring, resilient young men and women who are able to exceed their academic potential. The school further aims to enable pupils to develop the essential skills, attributes and mind set necessary for them to negotiate risk, make good life choices and pursue their aspirations and ambitions in their future lives.

About the pupils
The pupils come from various parts of Suffolk, largely near the east coast, and are predominantly of white British background. Their parents are mostly in professional, business or public service occupations, particularly in the fields of art, music and technology. The boarders mostly come from overseas, with around two-fifths coming from mainland China or Hong Kong, and ten other nationalities represented including the UK. Nationally standardised test data provided by the school and the school's own assessment indicate that the overall ability of the pupils is above average. The school has identified 55 pupils as having special educational needs and/or disabilities, which include dyslexia and dyspraxia, all of whom receive additional specialist help. No pupil in the school has an education, health and care plan or a statement of special educational needs. English is an additional language for 42 pupils, 31 of whom receive additional support for their English. Data used by the school have identified 81 pupils as being the most able in its population, and the curriculum is modified for them and for pupils who excel in sport and music.
